The Shop (Hidden Gem on 5th Ave) Review is part of a Weekend Stay in New York City, including a stay at Andaz 5th Ave (Luxury Hotel) Plus Q&A session with General Manager of Andaz 5th Avenue Cornelia Samara, the overrated dining experience at Spice Market (Asian Fusion Dining) and a Broadway show that is perfect for all ages, is considered the best show on Broadway, the one and only Lion King.

I would like to first thank selected individuals who made this “just perfect” dining experience possible are: Erika Lavine, who is our PR point of contact and does her Magic in making sure we can make reviews like this possible!!! Like to thank Megan Montenaro, She not only made our stay a very memorable one but made sure we had a wonderful dining experience at The Shop. I would also like to say our waitress, Beth, was just superb! Beth gave us detailed information on what was being served and where the food products originally came from. The food comes from an organic local farm, and the Salmon we ordered was a fresh Canadian Salmon not filet from before. You can really “Taste the Difference”!!!

The Shop is in a great location (Corner of West 41st and 5th Avenue), directly across from Stephen A. Schwarzman Library. Upon arriving in, you feel as if you have entered a small hip/modern café and a slightly more formal sit-down area as you walk up. You will find the decor very elegant with a high ceiling, dark wood, floor-to-ceiling windows, large comfy chairs with armrests (we did not try the café, we went for dining). Sunday evening, the bar is closed so requesting cocktails are not possible, but that became perfectly fine when we tried the freshly squeezed orange juice and strawberry juice (so fresh, reminded me of South beach).

Aesthetically, my favorite thing about The Shop is its open kitchen, elegantly placed at the center of the dining area. The bread we started with was great, although we personally thought butter would have been better.

For starters, we ordered the following: farmer’s salad, raw green market vegetables, fine herbs, feta, sherry vinaigrette & skillet fried potato & quinoa cake, crumbled chorizo, sunny side egg, salsa verde (Minus the meat or any wine sauce as we don’t consume any alcohol or meat ). I love Avocado so we ordered it as a side and just went perfect with the skillet fried potato and sunny-side egg.

For Entrées we both ordered the market fish with daily preparation. We received Canadian Organic Salmon with roasted fennel with candy cane baby beets all Organic and produced locally within NYC and NYS. We loved this and it is worth paying extra for, not only is it helping local farmers but also enjoying fresh organic meal, hands down worth it !!!

Since we were here to celebrate my Birthday, Hyatt Andaz 5th Avenue gave me a surprise desert, the red velvet cake was alright ( a bit too sugary for both of us ) but those heart shape raspberry white chocolates were to die for, Samia literary ate almost all of it 😉

I call this ” The Hidden Gem ” because it’s a bit hard for someone to spot but once you do, you will come back again and again because it’s that good!

We hope you enjoyed this post, if yes so please share this with your friends and family. We Really appreciate that.
