I consider myself to be an #AVGeek and have developed a love for traveling, Samia shared the same passion of traveling like myself, however she also in her heart wanted to combine her passion of community service while traveling. Thus led to the creation of ActofGoodwill.org a nonprofit platform. Samia combined her passion of Travel and Community Service by ensuring every country / city we would visit, we would try to help the under-served community such as Orphans, Widows, Refugees, etc by providing them with basic human needs ( food, water, clothing, shelter ) and empowering them with Education to ensure they become Self-Sufficient instead of relying on other people donations.

There are two types of travelers we have come across: Those who travel for themselves; to experience new places, meet new people, eat good food and just treat themselves! Which there is nothing wrong with in our opinion. The other are those who have a desire to do both, travel and do good at the same time but many shy away from it . They either do not know how to do it or find it too difficult.

What happened next, is not something we were expecting!  American Airlines told us, we can take a total of 6 Luggage’s of 50lbs each ( 300lbs total ) for FREE … That alone saved us few hundred dollars easy ( allowing us to buy more Emergency Relief items for People of Puerto Rico ) … The time came to reach out to someone who could help us, we were traveling on behalf of www.ActofGoodwill.org ( a federally approved nonprofit that helps people in crisis ).

Since we are Muslim, we were told to link with some Muslim nonprofit in PR helping people, unfortunately, all those we contacted either did not follow up or those that did; stopped responding to us when seeking final confirmation … We were quiet worried, but fortunately, a friend connected us to a local church in Puerto Rico that not only responded to us promptly but took care of us like family when we were there

Eleanor Roosevelt said “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” and this becomes a reality when we are told by American Airlines we will be given FREE FIRST CLASS SEATS while flying to Puerto Rico Thanks to their kind gesture, we flew 2+ hours from JFK-CLT and almost 3 hours from CLT-SJU in First Class … This was all thanks to Samia’s passion to go and personally help the people of Puerto Rico and where there is a will, there is a way! We were just truly blessed that American Airlines did such a nice gesture for us!!!

For past year or so Emirates Staff at JFK airport quality of  service has really taken a dip. The flights out out JFK I have observed  personnel including their indifferent supervisors being either very cold or mechanical.  The Good Old days of Emirates Quality of Service for its Premium Passengers and VIP Elites are gone, there was a time I use to receive a warmth of service that always had a personal touch has now gone amiss.

I have chosen Etihad and recommend Etihad to my other travel friends due to these issues. I know few select people that can truly change the Quality of Service for Emirates if given the opportunity, I hope they read my letter that I wrote to them and truly take steps to ensure a consistent quality of service that matches to Dubai.

I also feel that attention to details with regards to inflight services has also been taking a hit. I truly feel that Airline like Emirates has the capability of Ruling the Skies cause it truly offers amazing services from Dubai and select airports however given how American Airlines, Delta Airlines & United Airlines are always attacking Emirates – it should always ensure its quality of service remain the same !!!

I applied because it just made sense, sure I am paying $450 Fee however I am also receiving 100,000 Points valued at $1,200.00 at minimum. We both typically apply for 6 to 8 credit cards every year, recycling old cards or cards with higher annual fees that do not make sense to keep paying for anymore. For example, we recently canceled Citi^® / AAdvantage^® Executive World Elite card due to its high annual fee of $450 USD. One of the primary reasons people get this card can be seen in the picture below.

Since I’m already an Executive Platinum with American Airlines which gives me lounge access to all American Airlines, it did not make sense to keep the card.

I helped build my wife credit history in past few years from low 600’s (poor) to low 800’s (excellent). People believe that applying too many credit card will have a drastic negative impact on your credit history. Its not completely true.  My wife applies about 6 to 8 times a year for different credit card promotions.

What score would most likely get you an “Approved” status when applying for a credit card?

Its usually score of 700+, shows your credit is in good standing. Tells the creditor that you do not have a perfect history, might have had late payments or few other negative issues related to your previous credit cards. Remember various banks, credit card companies have different sets of rules/standards when it comes to credit score. One might feel having a 720 score be considered excellent and another might feel 800 to be excellent, so all depends on where and who your applying too.

While they’re not enclosed suites, the seats in Cathay Pacific first class are incredibly comfortable.

The bedding is top notch and I find that I sleep better in Cathay Pacific first class than almost any other Airlines. Cathay Pacific’s first class layout on the 777 is especially spacious, as it’s just six seats in a 1-1-1 configuration.

 

When Flying Business or First Class, you have the opportunity to fill out for MarcoPolo Membership for “Free” (its 50 US dollars otherwise).

And the service is consistently top notch if you understand how it works, they leave you alone to maximize your privacy, and if you need something you push the call button unlike other First Class Flight attendants (where they come and check up on you every 10-15 min), And when you do push the call button, they’re at your seat within a matter of seconds.

After that I was offered Pajamas which were very comfy.

The Cathay Pacific First Class food is incredibly consistent though not amazing, in my opinion.

The Flight timing are odd you depart around redeye hours, land at New York at 7 in the morning, essentially taking two back-to-back red-eyes – my flight experience, the service, the seat-bed and the food was so good that when we got to New York first thing in the morning, I was ready to hit the ground running and had a great first day.

The jet lag did not hit at all, I felt fine and was productive all day long, so that was totally worth it.

The trouble with flying such great first class services is that it makes anything in business or coach that much more less enjoyable.
